Memorex MVD2015 Progressive Scan Compact DVD Player

Memorex MVD2015 Progressive Scan Compact DVD Player Review

Let's face it. This is a very basic DVD player at a very basic price. I had purchased one a few months ago from a "close out" variety brick and mortar store for a little less than the price here on Amazon. I just picked up another one from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and thought I should comment. I bought this last player for one reason only. It is a superstar at playing burned backup copies of my DVD collection. I have several other (much more expensive, upconverting, etc.) DVD players in my house that have much trouble reading dual layer burned copies, but not this little Memorex player. I don't think the picture quite rivals my more expensive players, but it works fantasically for what I need it to do. If you need a DVD player that is cheap and plays anything you put in there...this is the one! I may be lucky one, but I am 2-for-2 on reliability (so far).

Garbage: Cheap for a DVD player but pricey for trash. - Sinclair - San Diego, CA
I asked an electronics expert which DVD player to get in the low-cost range. He said the cheapest ones are all likely to have issues, but that if they are going to be faulty, one should figure that out in the first month of use. He was right. The Memorex mvd2015 I purchased is crap and I figured it out the first time we used it. The remote is just impossible to manage even when it is within a foot of the box and the control buttons on the box are very limited (play/pause, stop, open/close). If you don't mind the risk of having to have the entire unit replaced once or twice before you actualy wind up with a non-defective one, then it could work for you. br /br /ATTN: Memorex personnel, if you could offer me a replacement without my having to lose money on shipping, I'd be happy to better my review.

Can't read DVDs - S. Muller - Oak Park, IL United States
I have managed to watch exactly one DVD using this player. I have tried loading 4 or 5 others, they all work on my PC DVD player, and they either get WRONG DISC or they load only the menu and then refuse all other requests(hand sign) made from remote.
