Pioneer DV-400VK Multi Region Review
Pioneer doesn't officially make an all-region version of this player, so what you get depends on who did the custom modification and using what (hardware/software). The all-region feature may or may not have been properly enabled or the "special" capability may be "lost" after unplugging the unit from the outlet if not properly enabled. I bought one that was enabled properly (I believe so far after more than a few months of usage) and works fine for any region (1 to 6) even after an extended power outage during a winter. My suggestion to other buyers is to ask the seller serious questions and quarantee of refund if not as described before hitting any button to buy. If no quarantee, don't buy it or you may regret later. br /br /This machine basically plays everything I have and more. Digital video via HDMI is as good as my Sony player. Digital audio via HDMI or coaxial out is second to none although this unit doesn't have the optical digital audio output that my Sony has. However, the Sony doesn't play as many types of discs and is Region 1 and NTSC only (no PAL). I will keep this Pioneer DVD player and replace my Sony DVD player with a Sony blu-ray player.

From Box to Screen in Under 10 minutes... - B. Patterson -
I ordered this DVD player from All Region World through Amazon. Product arrived almost instantly. I opened the box, followed the easy directions for changing the default PAL format to NTSC (it took two attempts), and was watching a rare 40 year old French New Wave film "Les Stances a Sophie" (also available on Amazon!) in under 10 minutes...and I am NOT tech savvy!br /br /Caution: 1. The quick instructions for changing format (PAL-NTSC)were on 1 page...look for this, don't throw it away in haste! 2)Do not accidently toss the adapter that converts the plug from the European to U.S. configuration.br /br /Overall...fast set up, great picture, just what I expected.br /

This unit is great , I purchased it from all region world, I emailed them before buying ,to check that it is indeed region free and that it would play my English dvds as well as American, the seller guaranteed that it would, as well as upconverting to 1080p, my package arrived promptly and I have had no problems with this unit, it plays all my region 1 and 2 dvds perfectly, initial setup was easy and the quality was what I expected from pioneer, the player itself is a nice slim design and looks good .I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it to anyone wanting to play all region dvds, if you purchase from a different seller I would check to make sure theirs is actually region free before purchasing.
